A very warm welcome to Players, Parents, Managers and Coaches for the 2014 season at Bardon Latrobe Football Club. Most of you would have had at least one game under your belt by now.

The early start to the season has caused some problems with summer sport still being played across many sports.

The renovated main field is coming along well and I would ask for your patience for just a little longer. As head Coach of Youth Development at Bardon I would like to especially thank Tom Connolly for his nonstop work at the Club and Bruce, Anthony and Thomas Powell, Doug Burley and Phil Pozzi for their efforts in getting the fields ready for play on the first weekend. A mention to Rob Wheeler and the senior players for helping to put the barrier fence back up after the games. When the field is finally cleared to play I hope to have my good friend, Brisbane Roar coach Mick Mulvey, along to officially kick the first ball on the new surface. I know many of you Roar fans will have the chance to meet Mick, have a chat and ask for his autograph on shirts, balls etc.

With the approval of the Club I believe I have now designed a  structure for Bardon to keep the best young players at the Club. The Club has given me the opportunity to employ quality coaches in 2014. In the team is Tom Pike who I believe is one of the best junior coaches in Brisbane. Tom will coach our under 11 Ards team. Tom has worked with me as an assistant coach at semi professional level and will bring out the best in our young players.

Speaking of the next level…. Justin McArthur who coaches our under 16’s is doing a great job. I can see from the games and training sessions I have observed that he has the players disciplined and playing for each other.

The inaugural Bardon Summer Academy finished in late January. Thank you for your feedback on how well the players enjoyed the coaching. Thanks most go to the lineup of international coaches I used in Henry Fayele ( Nigeria), Craig Gaffney ( Scotland), Tom Pike ( N.Ireland), Tony Complier ( New Zealand) and Serge Mouala (France).

Details of the up and coming coaching updates will be listed in the Club newsletter and on the Club website www.bardonlatrobe.org.au . My contact is 0413 003 751,

Finally I wish every Player, Parent, Manager and Coach a successful season in 2014. May football be the winner.
