Sally Shipard Australian Matilda midfielder to talk at Bardon Wed 21st Aug 5:30pm

Australian Matilda midfielder, Olympian and dual World-Cup representative, Sally Shipard is taking time out of her schedule to come to speak and train with the girls and women of Bardon Latrobe.

Sally competed at the 2004 Olympic Games when she was just 16-years-old. Shipard captained the Young Matildas in 2006 and represented Australia at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups. At the 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2011 World Cup, Shipard and the Matildas were knocked out by Sweden in the quarterfinals. The Matildas had one of the most gruelling roads to London and missed London qualification.

In 2012, Sally won the Julie Dolan Medal for Women’s Player of the Year, after an excellent season with the undefeated Westfield W-League champions (Canberra United).

We are excited to announce that Sally will be coming to present a talk, conduct a training session, and have an informal Q&A with the women and girls of Bardon Latrobe.  All our female players, from U6 through to Women’s Div 1 are invited to come along, hear some stories about representing Australia in football, and then train alongside Sally for the evening.

And how cool will it be to say you trained alongside a footballer who represented Australia.

It’s an event not to be missed.  We hope to see as many of our young female players as possible.  If your daughter is playing on a Bardon Latrobe team, please book this into your calendar.
