Season 2022 is just around the corner

Happy New Year! We are all looking forward to another successful season in 2022, one that we will be able to enjoy with much improved fields and infrastructure and hopefully we will have the restrictions of COVID-19 behind us.

In preparation, we wanted to provide you an update on the activities that are in progress to prepare ourselves for the upcoming season.

Field Remediation

As previously mentioned, the club has been undertaking a significant renovation of the fields over the past few months. This has meant the club has had to make the difficult decision to close the sporting field part of Bowman Park to ensure that the work is conducted safely and successfully. Importantly the project is proceeding well, the weather has been favorable for the works but we do not expect the fields to be open until the middle of March. We understand this has impacts for pre-season training, trials and early games. This activity has been fully funded by the club and would have been completed faster if the BCC had offered to assist with the turfing. We will provide a further update in the next few weeks.

Once complete these works will hugely benefit the local community making the fields a safer, more enjoyable and sustainable place to play sport.

Working Bee Day

To help prepare for Season 2022, the club is conducting a working on Sunday 30th January between 8am-12pm followed by a sausage sizzle. We would really appreciate if any parents or players could assist for sometime throughout the morning. Activities include equipment auditing and maintenance including kit preparation, cleaning up the shed, maintenance of the club infrastructure and fields. There will be team leaders assigned to each activity. If you can assist, please register.

Information Day

The club is having its annual MiniRoos and Juniors Information Day from 9am on Sunday, 6th February at the BLFC Clubhouse. The format for the day will beU6-U7: 9:00am-10:00amU8-U12s: 10:00am-11:00amU13s and over: anytime throughout the morning.

Season 2022 Registrations

Registrations are open and coming in steadily for the 2022 Season. Please don’t delay in registering.

If you have any questions, please contact either our VP Juniors and MiniRoos, Steve Jones  or the age coordinator for your interested age group for MiniRoos U6-12 or Juniors

Contact Sam Irvine-Casey for enquiries related to the Seniors.

Volunteers

As a community, volunteer-based club, we rely heavily on the generous donation of time and effort from our volunteers. This could extend from coaching and managing teams, to administration and general running and maintenance of the club. If you have any skills that you think might help, we’d love to hear from you. Some of the following areas are in most demand – Marketing and Communications, Field Maintenance and Landscaping, Project Administration and Coordination. Please let me know if you can assist by emailing Michael Watts.

Training

Given the remediation works occurring at Bowman Park, we have organised a number of alternative locations in order for teams to commence pre-season training and running trials. We will be in contact over the next few weeks with some options for coaches and managers.

Trials

The Club is expecting to run trials for MiniRoos U8-U12 Kangaroos (formerly called Komodos) and U13 upwards. For further information please contact Steve Jones

Thanks for reading this far and I look forward to seeing you either at one of the above events or as the season commences
