Bardon Latrobe keep pressure on rivals

The reserves put one foot into the finals with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Clairvaux. After dominating the first half, goals from Boardman and McDermott saw Bardon Latrobe two goals to the good at half time. Silva and Field added goals in the second.

With a number of first team players returning Bardon Latrobe welcomed Tolson, Meanger, Mavrik and Bertram back into the side. Clairvaux started the game the more lively of the two sides and had the first real chance of the game which produced a smart save from the accomplished Barber in goals.

Unusually Bardon Latrobe broke the deadlock from a set piece. Skipper Jerome Allen, playing at centre-back, put in a free kick from a deep position which was met with a cool header from Sean Jones – for his third senior goal of the season.

Jones and Tolson both had good chances to add to Bardon Latrobe’s lead before the break but the half finished 0 – 1.

After the restart Bardon Latrobe’s livewire forwards began to combine more but couldn’t find a finish for several excellent team moves. Finally, Meanger playing from a more central position, fired a strike from outside the box, the strike found the corner of the net past the dive of the Clairvaux keeper.

Boardman, Cretois and Maloney were all introduced for Bardon Latrobe but they couldn’t find any more goals and it took another smart stop from Barber, a goal line clearance from Ant Powell and an excellent sliding tackle from Allen to ensure a clean sheet.
