Seniors state of play

As our senior sides approach the mid point in their seasons we take a quick look at how they are all going in their leagues.

Over 35s

In their inaugural season our Division 5 side are climbing the ladder after a slow start. Having taken 10 of the last 12 points available – a 5 – 0 home win on Friday evening against Pine Hills will close the gap on the top 4 places (not shown in table below).

The Division 3 side have continued the form that saw them claim the Division 4 title last season. Whilst goals haven’t been an issue it is the impressively mean defence which has propelled them to the top spot. A one nil win against Westside on Friday evening (table below not updated) adds some breathing space.

City

It has been a tough start for our City 7 side. With the highlight of the first round of fixtures being the 5-0 demolition of Samford Rangers other points have been hard to come by.

After an impressive start our City 6 side have been on a tough run with their last victory coming at the end of April – this weekends fixture against basement dwellers Samford Rangers provides an opportunity to get back on track.

A recent run of good results for our City 5 have propelled them up the ladder.  Having taken 7 points of the available 9 in recent games Gil Albertson’s men are in the hunt for finals football.

Capital

The reserves have found form recently with 10 goals in 2 wins and Adam Meadow’s men have climbed up to 6th place in the league. However, they will be looking to build on the 4 wins from the first round of fixtures.

Our self described Jekyll and Hyde side have had impressive home wins against high fliers Samford Rangers (4th) and North Brisbane (2nd) and drew with third placed Westside in their last outing. However, those wins have been too few and far between for Head Coach Mark Strickland who will demand more for the rest of the season.
