Sometimes it’s about more than the result

On one of those glorious sunny Queensland winter afternoons, Bardon Latrobe FC took to the field in a VIVA Capital Round 19 game against Tarragindi Tigers FC at Bowman Park.

The Reserves created lots of chances but found themselves 2 – 0 down at half time. Justin Roper was able to pull a goal back in the 80th minute but Tarragindi Tigers held on for the win.

As 3pm approached the Bardon Latrobe Old Boys and Girls (or BLOBS) were out in force, on the hill, to celebrate and remember former player Jacques Langlasse.

Bardon Latrobe started brightly and on the 11th minute Sean Jones came close to opening the scoring.

Tarragindi Tigers took the lead after Johnston was judged to have brought down the striker in the box.

On the 33rd minute the in-form Moloney scored with a long range effort that looped over the Tarragindi Tigers striker.

The BLOBS, as is tradition, took to the field at half time.

Bardon Latrobe pushed for an equaliser but Tarragindi Tigers held strong. Clearing twice off the line and Bardon Latrobe hit the woodwork twice.

The game finished Bardon Latrobe 1 – 2 Tarragindi Tigers. Thanks to everyone who contributed to a collection for Jacques’ family. We managed to raise over $400 from Friday night and today.
