Capital teams beat the heat

Our Capital sides, who have been training for a few weeks, played their first pre-season friendly on Saturday against Capital Four side, Bethania Rams.

In sweltering conditions both sides rotated teams heavily in two well contested and fairly evenly matched games.

In the 4pm kick off, Irish striker Phil Tinsley’s strike from the edge of the box proved to be the difference between the two sides. Bardon running out 1-0 winners.

The weather was a little kinder in the 6pm KO and both sides played some great football. Bardon junior Luca D’Arienzo gave Bardon the lead just before the break and new striker Jerome Allen put Bardon up by 2 with about 5 minutes left on the clock.

John Tiatti (left) and Mark Strickland took charge of their first Bardon games.

This was after a period of domination from Bethania who were held off with a combination of good defending and some impressive saves from debutante goalkeeper Rhys Webber.

Photos from both games are available on our Facebook page (4pm/6pm).
