The afternoon stated well as our reserves cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory against the defending minor premiers and champions. A brace from striker Josh Hill and goals from Mitch Pilat and Austyn Boardman added to the clean sheet for Andy McDonald.

The drizzle started to get a bit more dense just in time for KO in the firsts. Bardon Latrobe dominated the first half creating the lion’s share of the chances but couldn’t get a breakthrough in the game.

Then the heavens opened. Everyone except the players and officials (and the poor Football Brisbane TV cameraman) took cover.

Then just 2 minutes after the restart, goalkeeper Webber parried a long range effort but it fell to the Tigers’ winger who opened the scoring.
Bardon Latrobe pushed for an equaliser creating chance after chance. The best falling to Norden Sherpa who had replaced Will McDermott in attack. Finally Jacob Pratten picked up the ball on the edge of the box and curled the ball into the top left hand corner for an equaliser.

Conditions continued to deteriorate and the Tigers almost took the lead from a Castillo headed back pass. Two minutes later the Tigers did get back in the lead, when the winger got in between Webber and Johnston and converted the chance. Bardon Latrobe then threw everything into trying to get an equaliser in the last 10 minutes. Chances falling for Good, Sherpa and a goal line clearance from a Mavik shot.

Unfortunately Bardon Latrobe couldn’t find the equaliser and the game finished 2-1.
