Firstly I’d like to acknowledge that we’ve now recorded in excess of 430 registered players across the club. That’s a fantastic effort. Now that the season is underway it also seems a good time to say thank you to some of our hard working volunteers. It’s no exaggeration to say that without their dedication to the club, we would not have been able to be so organised at the start of the season.
Eamonn McCaffery was good enough to take on the role of Vice-President (Juniors) when asked. He has taken on the task of recruiting and organising the age level coordinators who have in turn taken on the roles responsible for not only making sure that their age level teams are ready for the season, but also discuss issues affecting miniroos and the older teams for Eamonn to take to the club committee.
So special thanks go to our age level coordinators Mark Keane, Karen Dickson, Iain McKenzie, Dave Gillman, Marco Di Michele, Melissa Hislop, Phil Cowlishaw, & Steve Badman.
Steven Jones has taken over this year as the club referees coordinator and done an amazing job of training and organising our young refs with the aid of Chris Appleton who organises young referees for many local clubs.
Lastly I want to say thank you to Graeme Filippi for taking on more than his share of work this year. As well as coordinating and managing our over 35s team in its inaugural year, Graeme has also taken on the role of canteen convenor, as well as apprentice field line marker under the tutelage of our long time volunteer Doug Burley who has taken on this thankless task for so many years. With the assistance of another long term volunteer Phil Pozzi, Doug has laid out and marked the fields at Bowman Park for many years.
As ever, there are many tasks in need of completion to run the club smoothly and if you feel like you can assist we’d love to hear from you. We are still on the look out for a club secretary.
Once again, thank you to these many people who volunteer their time to make ours one of the greatest clubs in Brisbane.
