Our new contractor, Twin View Turf, is making good progress on the work that has been scheduled to return Field 1 to a suitable and safe standard. Last week the field, which is used by all our teams who play games on full size fields and many more who train on it, was treated for weeds, aerated, fertilised and some new turf was laid in the goal mouths.
Today (Monday 23rd January) the work will progress to ‘top dress’ the field. Top dressing, a sand based mixture, will assist in leveling the field. It is imperative that the field is given time to recover whilst a new irrigation program will begin. All teams who are currently in training must train on the far side around the cricket wicket until further notice.
Temporary fencing has been placed around the new turf in the goal mouths to assist the new turf bedding down. The cricketers will periodically remove it during games but it will be put back up.
The management committee recognise that our other fields are also in need of development and are currently working to understand all the necessary factors and interested parties needs to make this happen.
